Kerala is considered as the land of Ayurveda
and the system of application developed here is more advanced .
The Ayurvedic approach to health care is basically of 3 ways: 1)
Medicine, 2) Therapy,3) Surgery.
Among them therapy has more acceptance and popularity.
Panchakarma is considered as the leading therapeutic system.
Kerala Panchakarma is a more advanced system and is accepted all
over the world.
Basically, Panchakarma is the bio-reformative system through which
cure or management of certain diseases is possible.
Apart from the clinical Panchakarma, some speciality therapy
procedures have been developed by certain research institutes in India
where some speciality Panchakarma applications are available. |

Ayurveda, the
knowledge of life, is not only an indigenous system for
healing, but also shows us the ways and means to perfect
health restoration. The contribution made by Kerala to the
theory and practice of Ayurveda is enormous. The celebrated
Ashta Vaidyans (Doctors/Physicians), who belong to the Namboothri
community are still active in the field. There are several
works on Ayurveda in Malayalam, specializing on branches like
Toxicology, Pediatrics and Ophthalmology and diseases like
Leprosy, Diabetes, Tuberculosis etc. Prominent Vaidyasala
attract patients from all over the country and abroad.
Ayurvedic physicians have practiced with a degree of success
and have earned a reputation in the field. Today Ayurveda has
become a major tourist attraction of the state (Health
Tourism). |
